What Seven Album Singers Returning to Warriors Say About Its Broadway Cast
Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis's Warriors has named its initial Broadway cast, with seven 2024 album singers carrying their recorded roles to the Lunt-Fontanne stage.

Warriors, the Broadway musical with a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, has named its initial Broadway cast. The announcement was made on October 20, 2026. The show will play the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York, with performances starting March 9, 2027 and opening night set for April 8, 2027.
The production arrives on Broadway with a 2024 concept album. The musical's songs come from that album, and seven of its singers are set to reprise their recorded roles. The casting list therefore shows which performers carry over from the album and which do not. Eleven performers are named so far, and complete casting is still to come.
Eleven Performers in the Initial Company
The initial company has eleven named performers. Jaci Calderon plays Fox and replaces voice performer Phillipa Soo, according to TheaterMania. Amber Gray plays Ajax, and Jasmine Cephas Jones plays Swan.
Aneesa Folds plays Cleon, Julia Harriman plays Mercy, Sasha Hutchings plays Cowgirl, Gizel Jiménez plays Rembrandt and Kenita R. Miller plays Cochise. All five reprise roles they sang on the album.
Several cast members bring established Broadway credits. Gray is a Tony nominee for Hadestown, Jones is an original cast member of Hamilton, and Hutchings has Broadway credits in Hamilton, Gypsy and Oklahoma!, according to Broadway.com. Miller is also a Tony nominee. Likes has Broadway credits in Almost Famous and Back to the Future: The Musical, and off-Broadway credits in Heathers The Musical.
Sasha Allen plays Cyrus, Donald Webber Jr. plays Masai and Casey Likes plays Luther. Allen, Likes and Webber take over roles that Lauryn Hill, Kim Dracula and Colman Domingo sang on the album. Allen joins from her Broadway run in MJ, and Webber joins after playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton on Broadway, according to Broadway.com.
Seven Album Singers Carry Their Roles to Broadway
Seven of the eleven performers are bringing their recorded roles to the stage. For those seven, the Broadway role continues a part that already exists on record, with the same characters and the same singers.
The other four performers are cast in new assignments, and each of them is a change from the recording.
Jaci Calderon replaces voice performer Phillipa Soo. Sasha Allen, Casey Likes and Donald Webber Jr. take over roles from Lauryn Hill, Kim Dracula and Colman Domingo. Likes is in a different position, because he sang on the album too, but in another part. The character he sang on the album is not named.
Calderon will star as Nina in the Heights at New York City Center this fall, according to Broadway.com.
Dates, Venue and Creative Team
Warriors will play the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre at 205 West 46th Street, according to New York Theatre Guide. Performances begin March 9, 2027, and opening night is set for April 8, 2027. That leaves about a month between the first performance and opening night. New York Theatre Guide gives a recommended age of 12 and up and says children under 5 are not admitted.
Miranda and Davis wrote the book, music and lyrics for the show. Jenny Koons directs the production, and Andy Blankenbuehler co-directs and choreographs it, according to Broadway.com. New York Theatre Guide lists David Korins on scenic design, Dede Ayite on costumes, Natasha Katz on lighting, Jason Crystal on sound and Hana S. Kim on projections. Kurt Crowley is music supervisor and one of three orchestrators, with Mike Elizondo and Scott Wasserman also credited.
Ticket prices are reported differently. New York Theatre Guide says tickets start at $114. Broadway.com's show page lists tickets from $111.68. Which figure is current has not been confirmed.
The 1979 Film Behind the Stage Version
The musical is adapted from the 1979 action film The Warriors, a Paramount Pictures production directed by Walter Hill and written by Hill and David Shaber, according to TheaterMania. New York Theatre Guide says the film was based on Sol Yurick's novel.
The story follows a fictional gang from Coney Island. TheaterMania says the gang travels from Coney Island to the Bronx and back after being framed for the murder of a respected gang leader. Broadway.com adds that the killing happens at a summit in the Bronx, and that the gang must get home across New York in one night to prove its innocence and save Cyrus's hope for peace.
The stage version makes the central gang an all-female group, according to New York Theatre Guide. Miranda and Davis released the concept album in 2024, and the musical's songs, which blend hip-hop, rap and musical theatre styles, come from it, according to New York Theatre Guide.
The story reached Broadway through a novel, a 1979 film and a 2024 concept album. Seven of its singers reprise their roles in the stage version. The film supplies the premise, and the album supplies the recorded voices that the Broadway production is set to reprise.

Reading the Cast List
Three terms matter for the cast. A performer listed as reprising a role sang that part on the 2024 album. A performer listed as succeeding someone is taking over a role that another singer held on the recording. The reporting calls the list initial casting and says complete casting will be announced later.
Those distinctions shape how the cast can be compared with the album. Seven names match a recorded part. Four names either replace a recorded singer or, in Likes's case, move to a different role from the one he sang on record.
What Remains Unannounced
TheaterMania calls the cast initial, and Broadway.com says complete casting will be announced at a later date. Broadway.com also describes principal casting as complete, which sits alongside its own note that the full company is still to come. The eleven names are therefore an initial list, and other roles in the show are not yet named.
