Strictly necessary

These make the site work: keeping you on a consistent server, remembering your cookie choices, and security. They cannot be switched off, because the site cannot be delivered without them, and they are not used for advertising.

Analytics

These tell us which pages are read and how people arrive, in aggregate. We use this to decide what to cover and to find pages that are broken or slow. You can decline them and the site works normally.

Advertising

Where we carry advertising, these may be used to limit repetition and to measure whether a campaign was seen. Declining them does not remove advertising; it makes it less targeted.

Changing your mind

You can change these choices at any time on this page. You can also clear cookies through your browser's settings, and most browsers let you block them entirely — though blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working.

Do not track and opt-out signals

Where your browser sends a recognized opt-out preference signal, we treat it as a request to decline advertising and analytics cookies for that browser, and you do not need to set anything here.

Third parties

Embedded content from other services — video, maps, social posts — can set its own cookies under that provider's policy. Where we embed such content we identify the provider.
