Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of this site. Reading Manhattan Standard is free and requires no account. If you buy something from us — an event ticket, a license, a reprint — our digital terms of sale govern that transaction as well.

Using the site

You may read, link to, and quote our work with attribution. You may not scrape the site at a volume that degrades it for other readers, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or use it to distribute malware.

Our content

Everything we publish is our copyright unless stated otherwise. Quoting a short extract with attribution and a link needs no permission. Reproducing an article in full, distributing copies, or using our work commercially is a license — our reprints and licensing page explains how to get one.

Where an article was produced under a paid arrangement it carries a visible disclosure. Any licensed reproduction must keep that disclosure, and we do not license versions with it removed.

Accuracy, and what this is not

We report carefully and correct openly, but our articles are general information about how things work in New York. They are not legal, tax, financial or investment advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. Several of our articles carry that note explicitly; it applies across the site.

Rules, rates and thresholds change. Where a figure matters to a decision you are making, confirm it with the authority we link to or with your own adviser.

Links to other sites

We link to sources and to the sites of people and organizations we write about. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content. Links from a paid feature to the subject's own properties are marked so search engines treat them correctly.

Anything you send us

If you send us a tip, a correction or a letter, you confirm you are entitled to share it. We may publish or refer to correspondence unless you ask us not to. Where we have agreed to protect your identity, we protect it.

Availability

We aim to keep the site up and accurate, and we provide it as it is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, move or withdraw material — though we do not remove accurate reporting because a subject would prefer we did.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from decisions taken on the basis of general information published here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Contact and corrections

To request a correction, send the article URL and the specific error to corrections@manhattanstandardmag.com. We correct on the page and note what changed and when. Our editorial standards page sets out how we work.
