Manhattan Standard covers business, money and power in New York: the companies, the property, the regulation and the people whose decisions shape how the city works.
What we publish
Explanatory and service journalism about how things actually work here — what a tax applies to, what a lease clause does, how an approval is obtained, what a contract really says. It is written to be useful to someone with a decision in front of them.
We publish evergreen work deliberately. Mechanisms are stable; the figures attached to them move, so we explain the mechanism and point to the authoritative source for anything that changes.

Who writes it
Work appears under a section desk byline — The Business Desk, The Money Desk and so on — or under a named writer. A desk byline attributes a piece to the team that produced it. It is long-standing newsroom practice, and unlike an invented reporter it is true. We do not publish under fictional names.
In print
We publish digitally. If we produce a print edition we will announce it here and to our briefing subscribers rather than leaving this page to imply one exists.
