Privacy Statement

This statement describes what we actually do with personal information. Manhattan Standard is free to read, requires no account, and puts nothing behind a login, so for most readers the only personal information we hold is an email address you gave us for a briefing.

What we collect

  • Email addresses submitted to our newsletter forms, together with the briefings you asked for.
  • The IP address a newsletter submission came from, used to rate-limit the form against abuse.
  • Aggregate analytics about how pages are used, where analytics is enabled.
  • Anything you choose to send us — a tip, a correction, a press or commercial enquiry.

We do not ask for your name to read the site, we do not build reader profiles, and we do not require registration.

Analytics

Where analytics is enabled we use Google Analytics 4, loaded after the page is interactive so it never delays what you came to read. It tells us which pages are read and how people arrive, in aggregate. Declining analytics cookies on our cookie preferences page stops it for that browser, and a recognized browser opt-out signal is honoured without you doing anything.

Newsletters

We use your address to send the briefings you asked for and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to advertisers. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

Images and hosting

Article images are served from our content platform's CDN. Loading a page therefore involves a request to that CDN, which receives your IP address as any web request does.

How long we keep things

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Correspondence is kept as long as it is useful to the matter it concerns. Analytics data is aggregate and is retained according to the platform's own retention settings.

Your rights

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Receive a copy of it.
  • Have inaccurate information corrected.
  • Have it deleted.
  • Object to, or opt out of, its use for targeted advertising.

Write to privacy@manhattanstandardmag.com from the address concerned, so we can confirm the request is yours. Our privacy choices page sets out the opt-out mechanisms; our cookie preferences page covers what is stored on your device. We do not treat anyone differently for exercising a right.

Children

This is a business publication written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change this statement materially we will say so on this page rather than amending it quietly.

This statement describes what we do. If anything here does not match what you have experienced, tell us — that is a bug, and we want to know.
