Torque Sofa Review: One Founder's Dispute and the Vanishing Amazon Listing
A founder's warranty fight over a Torque sofa set, and why the Amazon listing he bought from is now marked unavailable.

The first warning sign was the color. When the founder, an India based entrepreneur who asked The Manhattan Standard not to publish his name, unpacked the blue 3+2 seater sofa set he had ordered on Amazon India in December 2025, the two pieces did not match. "Two different shades in one set," he said. "You notice it the moment they are side by side."
He kept the set anyway. The product was the Torque Jett Plush Premium sofa, sold under the Torque brand of Torque Innovations Private Limited, a furniture company registered in Thane, Maharashtra. It cost him about ₹32,000 and came with a one year warranty. He assumed that warranty would cover anything that went wrong. It did not work out that way.
Five months to the frame
By month five or six, the cushions had collapsed. "You sit down and you are resting on wood," he said. "The padding had simply given up."
He filed complaints through Amazon, emailed Torque, and phoned the company's support line. According to him, the response was a bill: a charge for the repair and a separate fee for a technician to visit his home. "They advertise a one year warranty, the product fails inside six months, and the customer is asked to pay," he said. "That is not how a warranty works. The failure is the company's responsibility."
When he challenged the charges, he says the replies stopped. "Weeks of silence. No acknowledgment, nothing." After roughly two months of escalating between Amazon and Torque, he abandoned the repair route and returned the set through Amazon. The refund arrived about 30 days later. "Three months of my life went into getting back money for a sofa that, in my opinion, was not worth ₹5,000 after half a year of use."

A familiar complaint
He is not the only buyer describing this failure. Verified purchase reviews on the same Amazon listing, spanning November 2024 to July 2026, return to the same themes: cushions that sag, seating that is uncomfortable, and a price that buyers feel was not justified. One reviewer judged the set not worth ₹35,000. A separate published review describes cushions that sank within six months and a warranty claim that was turned down.

The listings question
What troubles the founder most is not the sofa. It is visibility. The Amazon listing he bought from now shows as currently unavailable, carrying just 19 ratings and a 3.2 star average. Torque's own website, meanwhile, features a Jett Premium Fabric Sofa Set among its best sellers. The same homepage describes the company as India's No. 1 sofa maker, claims over 10 lakh (one million) happy customers, and displays a 4.64 star rating.
"My belief, from what I have watched happen, is that listings with heavy negative feedback get pulled and the product reappears under a new listing," he said. "The old page stops ranking, the reviews go with it, and the next buyer starts from a clean slate. If I am right, hundreds of genuine complaints are out of sight."
The Manhattan Standard has not independently verified how Torque manages its Amazon listings, and nothing in this account establishes that the company has broken any marketplace rule. The founder says he is sharing his experience so shoppers can check for themselves. The website also states that each piece is hand made in its Long Eaton factory. Long Eaton is a furniture making town in England, while the company's registered office is in Maharashtra.
What buyers can do
The founder now treats every large online purchase as a paper trail. His advice: sort reviews by lowest rating and read the dates, save screenshots of the listing and warranty terms at checkout, and get written confirmation that warranty repairs include labor and visit charges. Indian buyers with an unresolved complaint can turn to the National Consumer Helpline and file with consumer commissions through the e-Daakhil portal.
"A warranty is a promise," he said. "Keep it, reply to your customers, and let people see the reviews. That is all anyone is asking for."
