How to Check Which Adult Vaccines You Are Due For
Adult vaccine schedules change with age, health and travel. Checking your records and asking the right questions avoids missed doses.

Many adults assume vaccines end in childhood. In fact, national immunisation schedules for adults include a number of vaccines, and which ones apply depends on age, health conditions, pregnancy plans and travel. Missed doses are common, and they are easy to fix once you know what is due.
Start with your records
Gather whatever record you have. That could be a vaccination card, a patient portal entry, or a record from a pharmacy. Many state immunisation registries also hold data for adults. Without a record, a clinician may need to decide whether to repeat a dose.
Know the common categories
Adult schedules typically cover routine vaccines such as influenza each season, a tetanus booster on a regular interval, and vaccines recommended for older adults or people with certain conditions. Recommendations change, so use a current source from a national public health body or ask your clinician.
Ask the right questions
Ask whether any vaccine is due, whether your health conditions change the advice, and whether you need any vaccines before travel. If you are planning pregnancy, ask which vaccines are recommended before or during pregnancy.
Where to get vaccinated
Doctors, many pharmacies and some clinics provide adult vaccines. Check whether your insurance covers the vaccine and the administration, and whether you need an appointment.
This is general information. Your clinician decides which vaccines are right for you.
